Time travel in Ganghwado - (1) Intro


Last Saturday, 16th October,
 Coreal took their first trip to
Ganghwa Island; 강화도; 江華島



It is the 5th largest island in South Korea,
and located north western of it,
facing with  Gaeseong province in North Korea. 



Ganghwado has been recognized as preserved most important history of
 Korean peninsula from the prehistoric age to modern times.

It has world cultural heritage Dolmens,
Mt. Manisan where the Korean legendary god-king Dangun dedicated it to Heaven,
Jeondeng temple believed as the oldest buddhist temple site in Korea,
a number of fortresses protected country from the western power's invasion
and so on.

Eight Sceneries of Ganghwado are also famous among Korean,
and it has recently established Oktokki Space Center.


For Ganghwa Island has so many sightseeings,
usually people spend 3 to 4 days to complete their trip to Ganghwa,
but Coreal abstract it to one day,
to see only the most interesting spots for foreigners.


How to go Gandhwa Island?
If you are in Seoul, you can go there by one direct bus, No.88.



You can take this bus at Yeongdengpo station(Line no.1).
It takes almost one and half hours to get Ganghwa Island.

Yeongdengpo station is its first stop
and Ganghwa Island(Ganghwa Bus Terminal) is its last destination.
So all you have to do is seat, and enjoy the view until the driver
ask you to get off :)

If you get there, just go inside the terminal and you can see
the tour information desk. The clerk at there can speak English.
And they connect you with one day personal driver if you ask.
He/she will be your driver, translator, tour guide as well.
It costs 60,000 won in average, 53 USD, 
but it is subjected to be changed as oil price in Korea.
